I can’t believe it’s been a year since I’ve decided to take the plunge, ditch my day job and pursue what I love! I think with each passing day, the love I have for this business just keep growing. I honestly can’t imagine myself doing anything else other than this.. this is how true bliss feels like…
So much has happened which I’m so grateful for and from 16-30 November 2014, we will be celebrating our FIRST birthday! But I won’t be celebrating it alone.. I’ll be celebrating it with you and my fabulous sweet team! I can’t wait to reveal our gifts to you and I hope you will love it because you guys are so very special indeed!
When the bakery first started to hire more staff to help with the workload, I also realized that there is a possibility that I might alienate the very people who have encouraged my journey. As cliche as it sounds (and I really can’t repeat this enough), the success of the bakery predominately depends on the support given to us by our fans and our clients. An idea is just an idea until other people believe in it enough for it to become a reality. I know that I’ll be very sad if I ever lose the connection I feel with our social media fans and hence, the idea of having a newsletter starts to form.
As discussed with Jennifer, our new social media diva, I didn’t want a newsletter simply to promote the business to fans every few weeks. I wanted it to be something that fans will wish to bookmark in their browser, be appreciated for reading our news and most of all, be inspired based on the things I’ve learnt in my own life. I wanted it to be personal just like an email received from an old friend and for subscribers to grow with the bakery as time goes by. Sugar-Coated Diary is my raw and honest view about entrepreneurship and the struggles I go through juggling parenthood with building a career.
Sugar Hi is the official newsletter of our bakery, it has a specific format whereby each issue will need to include a blog post, a special offer/ exclusive promotion and a mention of a new product/new staff. Each issue is carefully designed and put together every weekends by myself and the girls in the media team so the contents are personal and entertaining. Using SugarHi as an outlet for me to reach out to our bakery fans, I’ve also discovered the love for blogging, graphic design and was constantly inspired by the emails from SugarHi readers. Once again, they continue to offer their unexpected encouragement and love. Most of all, I thoroughly enjoy reading about their own personal stories of triumph and empathize deeply when they share their inner battles as working mothers.
If you think this sounds like an awesome newsletter, I will like to invite you to subscribe to our monthly dose of sugary sunshine and a chance to get up-close and personal with the team behind the bakery. I hope to hear from you soon!

When we first started planning for this birthday, we wanted to make sure the kids get to take part in our celebration as well! Afterall, the majority of our clients are parents who are ordering for their children and we simply can’t have a bakery without children being our biggest fans!
So, from 16 – 30 November, we will be asking your little ones to take part in our Birthday Cake Pop Hunt! Each Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, we will be posting a cake pop image on our Facebook Page such as this one here

and ask our little Sugar Popettes to hunt down the location of this hidden Sugar Pop on our website! The Sugar Pop can be hidden in any of our webpages and the first child to comment below the facebook photo we’ve posted with the correct screenshot of the Sugar Pop on our webpage will receive a very special gift. As our website is mobile-optimised, images can be a screen shot or a saved image fie.
We know how much little kids LOVE Smiggles so we’ve a few sets of Smiggles stationary to give away along with a special cake pop designed just for the winning child. Our winners will receive a membership into our Sugar Poppets Kids Club.
We will like parents to encourage your little one to take part in this competition on their own and use their best U generation skills to find the hidden cake pop! This pop hunt is only opened to children aged between 6 – 12 year old, residing in Australia.
Happy Hunting!
